Abstract

Instead of reflecting about the Digital Humanities, this article contextualizes them critically reviewing issues related to the geopolitics of knowledge and inequities in research at a global level. It also interrogates labels coined from the North and defines the South or Souths as part of the epistemology of independent and sustainable Digital Humanities.

Gimena del Río Riande, Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliográficas y Crítica Textual (Iibicrit/Conicet)

Gimena del Río Riande é Investigadora Adjunta do Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliográficas y Crítica Textual (IIBICRIT), no CONICET. As suas linhas de investigação relacionam-se com o medievalismo, a edição digital de textos, a comunicação científica e as Humanidades Digitais. Dirige o Laboratorio de Humanidades Digitales no IIBICRIT (HD LAB, CONICET). Co-dirige a Revista de Humanidades Digitales (RHD), é presidenta da Asociación Argentina de Humanidades Digitales (AAHD) e membro director (Board of Directors) da Text Encoding Initiative, entre outras instituições académicas e de investigação.

Domenico Fiormonte, Università Roma Tre

Domenico Fiormonte é Doutor pela Universidade de Edimburgo e atualmente é professor de Sociologia da Comunicação e da Cultura no Departamento de Humanidades da Universidade Roma Tre. Em 1996, criou um dos primeiros recursos em linha sobre textos literários (www.digitalvariants.org). Editou e co-editou uma série de colecções sobre Humanidades Digitais e publicou livros e artigos sobre filologia digital, escrita nos novos media, codificação de textos e geopolítica do conhecimento. É autor, juntamente com Teresa Numerico e Francesca Tomasi, de The Digital Humanist. A critical inquiry (2015). Com Sukanta Chaudhuri e Paola Ricaurte, editou a primeira coleção de Humanidades Digitais dedicada ao Sul Global: Global Debates in the Digital Humanities (2022). É estudante, praticante e professor de ioga desde 2008 e, neste domínio, editou uma coletânea italiana de ensaios interdisciplinares sobre a consciência (2018).
